Begin with yourself. May I be happy. May I be healthy. May I be loved. May I be free. If you're like me, and you struggle to practice self compassion (forget about self love :) try picturing yourself as a small child - on your first day in this world.....or on your last. Bringing to mind this sort of image can be incredibly helpful for generating compassion for myself, in difficult moments, when I know I've got to have my own back. Then move to someone you see every day, but is a "neutral" person (maybe someone you see in the store, or on the street on your walk to work. Bring them to mind, and using the mantra's below - wish them well)Then someone you ❤️ in a non romantic way, but who is easy to generate feelings of well wishing the very best for, without effort. Then to someone who triggers you or who you feel is difficult [Try this, if you find this challenging]Then for all beings everywhereMay you be happyMay you be healthyMay you live with easeMay you be freeThe practice of Metta [Loving kindness] is a gift you give yourself, disguised as a gift you give to othersKindness and compassion without causes or conditions. Writ large. Start small. Think scale. Short moments, many times :)The more you love others for no good reason, the more life begins to feel like an ever expanding experience of love.It won't make you a push over. It won't make you soft. It will make you wise in what matters most.Teach what you know. Do what you love. Wake up the world with your work. Join us!
