1. Get Started

2. You first need to create your list.
3. Go to Developer and select the Check Box Content Control at the beginning of the first line.
4. To change the default X to something else, see Make changes to checkboxes.
5. Copy and paste the check box control at the beginning of each line.
6. Select a checkbox to put an X (or other character) in the check box.

7. Add hanging indentation

8. If some items are more than one line long, use hanging indents to align them.
9. Select the list. Bullets or numbers won’t look selected.
10. Go to Home and select the Paragraph dialog box launcher.
11. Under Indentation, in the Left box, type 0.25.
12. Under Special, choose Hanging.
13. For By, Word sets a default value of 0.5 inches. Change this if you want your additional lines indented differently.
14. Select OK when finished.

15. Lock the text and controls to prevent changes

16. Select the list and checkboxes.
17. Go to Developer >Group > Group.
18. To unlock the list, select the list and choose Group > Ungroup.

19. Create a print only list

20. Go to Home and select the down arrow next to the Bullets button.
21. In the drop down menu, select Define New Bullet.
22. Select Symbol and find a box character. If you don't initially see one, change Font to Wingdings or Segoe UI Symbol.
23. Select OK twice, and create your list.
